Runelvys Hernandez will open the season on the disabled list instead of in the No. 2 slot in the Royals' rotation. The right-hander reported to camp around 30 pounds in excess on his listed weight of 250, and he pitched poorly in spring training. General manager Allard Baird said Monday that Hernandez is going on the DL because of stamina concerns. "The bottom line is where he's at is not where he needs to be," Baird said.
